I did not mean anything before leaving Colombia to continue my career studies abroad in January 2020. It was while living in Canada when the #BlackLivesMatter protest started that I was called brown for the first time in my life. This was shocking, revealing, and heart-breaking.

Here is an explorer classroom section where I talked about this: https://t.co/cWwM9tYxxx. Also, she showed me what could a woman do as a researcher in this field, what were the possible questions to ask, the methodologies to use, and the way to put them on paper.

Dr. Eloisa Lasso inspired me to become a plant ecophysiologist. It was during her plant physiology course that I discovered that plants are incredible organisms capable of doing all the same things we do and more in such a completely different way. https://t.co/kHYloRyrao

However, it was one week before the university applications closed that I decided to study biology. I was watching the news with my Dad & saw a woman microbiologist talking about her work. I never thought I could be a biologist before that & it's been the best decision so far.
